African American CommitteeThis committee is responsible for reviewing policies and programs established by the state directly impacting African American members of Local 1000.

Asian-Pacific Islander CommitteeThis committee is responsible for reviewing policies and programs established by the state directly impacting Asian-Pacific Islander members of Local 1000.

COPE (Committee on Political Education)Members of this committee must keep informed of the
union's legislative and political programs; including those of the SEIU California State Council, the Central Labor Council, Change to Win, The California Federation of Labor, the International Union and the Association. COPE promotes union voter registration drives, encourages membership participation in grassroots campaigns, propositions, legislation, candidate recommendations, and other issues. This committee makes recommendations to the Local 1000 Council.

State Workers with Disabilities CommitteeThis committee develops the affirmative action plan for recruitment and training of disabled members as union stewards, bargaining unit representatives, committee members and officers. They also recommend actions to remove barriers to participation and activism by disabled members, and help
District Labor Councils (DLCs) create strategies regarding issues affecting disabled workers. The Disabled in State Workforce Committee recommends appropriate steward and leadership training modules on issues affecting the disabled in the workplace and coordinates their activities with the other Local 1000 committees.

Environmental CommitteeThis group is committed to reducing damage caused by the work of the state while redirecting and expanding our contributions to improving the environment. The Environmental Committee investigates issues and educates fellow workers at union Council and SBAC meetings and at public events, and provides a focus for members in the union who see the need for activism on environmental issues.

Latino/Latina CommitteeThis group is responsible for the review of policies and programs established by the state directly impacting Latino and Latina members of Local 1000. Additionally, the Committee is looking to expand its outreach to its members by hosting regional meetings and functions that will bring in Latina/o members, the Latino community and supporters of Latino issues. Lavender (LGBTL) CommitteeThe Lavender--Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Labor--(LGBTL) Committee is responsible for reviewing policies and programs established by the state directly impacting LGBTL members of Local 1000. This Committee also monitors state programs and policies relating to affirmative action; civil and human rights laws and legislation; state action relating to adverse action patterns involving LGBTL; persons with HIV/aids who are in the workforce; community concerns and issues important to LGBTL members; and policies and programs impacting LGBTL members. The Lavender Committee also helps improve communication between LGBTL members within Local 1000 and assists Communications staff when possible.

Facebook: Lavender Committee SEIU Local 1000Women's Committee This group is responsible for reviewing policies, training and apprenticeship programs, wages, working conditions and programs established by the state impacting all female state employees and members of Local 1000. The Women's Committee is responsible for organizing and training female members to assume leadership roles, educate all members about the needs and concerns affecting women members, identifying issues of particular concern regarding Local 1000 women and supporting Local 1000 through its leadership riles by means of more educated and prepared Local 1000 female members.
