Union Power: Recent win proves members make a difference

Bargaining Unit 11 win proves that members in action make a difference

"I was just paying my dues, never thinking about how the union would ever help me," says Transportation Engineering Technician Tuan Nguyen. "Last month that all changed."

To all Transportation Engineering Technicians:

Unit 11 Report from Statewide Bargaining Advisory Commitee (SBAC)

Unit 11 rolled out a survey for architectural and engineering classifications. The purpose of the survey is to determine the extent to which Unit 11 jobs have been lost to Unit 9 (PECG). It also will be very helpful for the MREA classification's upcoming arbitration. The response rate for this survey has been very high; more than 50% of the workers have responded. The Research Department has really done a great job at making this survey process a success.

Local 1000 members are taking issue with a recent report by the Legislative Analyst's Office (LAO) alleging that Caltrans is overstaffed.
