Education & Training

education_training.jpgEducation and Training in Our Contract

If your department requires you to attend an educational program, you must be reimbursed for your costs. This includes tuition, registration fees, books, transportation, parking, and lodging.
Educational programs that are not required may be reimbursed if approved by your department.  Some departments are more open to training than others.  Emphasize how the program will help you help the department and help you provide better public services.

For more details, view Section 13.10.1 of our Memorandum of Understanding.

Office of Technology Services Training Center

This state agency offers a variety of mainframe, technical, IT-related, business financial, professional development and PC application courses. It is located in Sacramento.

It also offers certificate programs in IT Project Management, Basic Analyst, and SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) analyst.

Some departments will provide administrative time and pay tuition for you to attend the training center.  However, if your department does not have training funds, you may attend the Center as an individual, on your own time and pay your own tuition.  You will have to provide verification from your Department's Training Coordinator that you have approval to attend.
